GUN-MARIE NÄLSÉN & ANNE-MARIE HERRERA,
THE FABRIC OF KINSHIP
JUNE 1, 2018
Having spent time in Venezuela, this mother-daughter duo pulls inspiration from the colors of the lush tropics. While their choice of colors are similar, their key difference lies in the canvas. Gun-Marie fell in love with rug hooking; using hand dyed wool and other materials that are so appropriate to express the light and colors of the patterns she hooks. Her ability to paint beautiful landscapes with needle felting is truly an art.
Anne-Marie’s natural curiosity of complex ecosystems drives her “art making” to explore light, colors and form. Through experimentation, she is able to print organic themes on various fabrics and materials inspired by her fiber artist mother.
